The Percheron

The Percheron is a draught horse breed originating in France. The Percheron is renowned for its combination of power and grace. Percherons generally range between 16 to 17 hands in height. Their weight is generally between 750 - 1000 kilograms

Percherons can be black or grey in colour. A grey Percheron is born black and as they get older they lighten to a grey colouring and will develop faint white spots (dappled grey). Once mature they lighten to a white.

Percheron are the tallest of all draught horses however their body is very wide in girth and their legs are shorter than other draught horses, which makes them look shorter in height.
